Mihama Town is located in the Chita Peninsula in the southern part of Aichi Prefecture. The town has plenty of seaside scenery, with the eastern part of the town facing the Mikawa Bay, the western part facing the Ise Bay. Many tourists visit the town in search for the town’s mild climate, beautiful seaside resorts, and recreational facilities. It is easy to access from aboard too, since one of the main airports in Japan, Chūbu Centrair International Airport, is located near to the town.

Arriving by plane:
Approx. 1 hour from Haneda Airport to Chūbu Centrair International Airport, then approx. 25 min. from Chūbu Centrair International Airport to Ōtagawa Station by a semi-express train via Meitetsu Airport Line, and finally approx. 30 min. from Ōtagawa Station to Kōwa Station (center of the town) by a limited express train via Meitetsu Kōwa Line.

Arriving by train:
Approx. 1 hour 41 min. from Tōkyō Station to Nagoya Station by a Shinkansen train, then approx. 4 min. from Nagoya Station to Kanayama Station via JR Chūō Main Line, and finally approx. 45 min. from Kanayama Station to Kōwa Station (center of the town) via Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line.

Minami-Chita Beach Land

A recreational facility located at the coast. You can touch animals like dolphins, sea lions, and earless seals. The place has raised dolphins longer than any other place in the world. This is probably one of few places in the world where you can not only watch the show, but actually try to touch the animals. The park entrance fee also includes access to Minamichita Toy Kingdom, located in the same facility, where you can play with toys like Plarail and Licca-chan.


Nomazaki Lighthouse
Commonly referred to as Nomatōdai, this lighthouse was built in 1921, making it the oldest lighthouse in Aichi Prefecture. It is pure white and shaped like a traditional lighthouse. Especially in early evening you can enjoy an exceptionally beautiful view with the Pacific Ocean in the background. There is also a rumor that if a couple attaches a padlock to one of the fences bordering the lighthouse park, their love will prosper.

Uotaro Main Shop

This shop sells marine products that have been harvested from the Ise Bay and the Mikawa Bay. Since the shop is located only few minutes walking distance from the fishing harbor, the seafood is guaranteed to be super fresh. It is a good place to purchase souvenirs, and you may also want to taste one of the special local menus. There is also a place to do barbeque, without the need to bring your own tools.

Ebi-senbei (shrimp rice cracker) is one of Aichi Prefecture’s local specialties. One of the famous places that produce this delicacy is Mihama Town, known as “ebi-senbei no sato”, i.e. “the village of shrimp rice crackers”. Ebi-senbei are made of dried shrimps that are kneaded into the senbei dough and baked. Besides the standard salt flavor, there are also various other flavors like wasabi and Japanese apricot.
