Kayabuki is located about a 15 minute taxi drive from Utsunomiya station. Not a very convenient place, one must say. And yet, a surprising 80% of its customers are tourists from abroad, who come all the way to experience the service of two monkeys.

The menu of Kayabuki is orthodox, the atmosphere an old style typical Japanese grungy looking izakaya.

You can take pictures with Yaccha and Fukuchan, watch their monkey show and be pampered by their Japanese OMOTENASHI hospitality. Don’t forget to tip them with edamame (boild soybeans) although the owner may prefer a real money tip. Make sure to call in advance to make a reservation. Kayabuki is very popular among the locals as well as tourists and is irregularly closed.
