[:en]Hina Dolls tour is an event held every March in Yoshii-machi town in Ukiha City. Varieties of Hina Dolls which have been made from the Edo Period to the present day are displayed everywhere in the town. Jinrikisha is available to take the tour during the event period.



An elegant townscape with traditional buildings can be seen on Shirakabe Street. It is an event that Japanese traditional culture can be felt everywhere in the town.

Access to Ukiha City

Arrived by airplane:
Approximately 2hrs from Haneda Airport to Fukuoka Airport. About 50 min drive from Fukuoka Airport to Ukiha Station.

Arriving by train:
Approximately 5 hrs from Tokyo station to Hakata station by bullet train. About 1 hr from Hakata Station to Ukiha Station by JR Kagoshima Main Line.

Ukiha City still having the appearance of the Edo period

Ukiha City flourished as a post-town in the Edo period. There still remains residences and irrigation ditches at the time and the same townscape can be seen as Chikugo-Yoshii preservation districts for groups of historic buildings in Yoshii area. Not only old residences but also modern cafes and shops in the districts where is the perfect to stroll the town.

There are also many fun places with the great nature in Ukiha City where is surrounded by Mino mountain rainge and Chikugo River. Choon-no-taki waterfalls park is one of the must-see place. There are 4 waterfalls in the park and bathing can be enjoyed in summertime. Also 300 layers of beautiful green terraced paddy fields are must-see landscape with 400 year-old stone arrangements.

Ukiha-Inari Shrine

The best scenic spot in the city is Ukiha-Inari Shrine. The 90 vermillion colored Torii Gates stand on the 300 steps stairs are very photogenic. Natural springs at Seisui-ji Temple is one of the best water in Japan selected by Ministry of the Environment and the temple is popular as a summer retreat.

Ukiha City is known as one of the best fruit producers in the prefecture, where fresh seasonal fruit can be enjoyed. Also new local dishes such as pork legs, Ukiha sandwich and more are invented recently.
